Cycling for Fitness

Three Tips For Enhanced Benefits From An Indoor Cycling Class

#1. Stretch before and after your class

Stretching is a critical aspect of any exercise or fitness class. For cycling, stretching your quads, hamstrings and calves should always be done for 10-15 minutes before getting on your cycle. Be sure to stretch when your class is done.

#2. Drink water during your class

Continue to hydrate your body while cycling. You loose a considerate amount of water via sweating during the class. Keep your water bottle in an arm’s reach on your handle bars.

#3. Wear proper gear and adjust your bike

Be sure to wear cycling clothes that are comfortable and use shoes/ riding cleats that fit the bike pedals properly. Ask your cycling class instructor to assist you in adjusting your bike for your height so that your back is not overly forward flexed. Full extension at the knees is appropriate; yet, you should not hyperextend your knees while cycling.

Continue to cycle and stay fit!
